In a few days North America will have a Total Solar Eclipse.  Although there are solar eclipse every year, very rarely is there a total solar eclipse.  It has been advertised so heavily that the news channels have reported long lines of people waiting to buy solar eclipse glasses.  What started off as just $1 a pair at your local Walmart is now anywhere from $3.50 - $5.00 a pair to double digit cost due to the shortages.  The schools are calling parents to let them know that they are covering this in school on Monday and to let the schools know if you don't want your students to participate. Also they have been warning that you need to be sure that you have approved eclipse glasses to protect your eyes. Never look at the sun directly.  CNN has information on this subject. CNN

Several news articles show Amazon refunding for glasses that are possible not approved ISO number glasses. Here is one of the many articles that you can find online about Amazon refunds.CNN Money
And  CNET explains how to tell if you have purchased the correct glasses.

Here is a sample of a few news websites that are reporting on the shortage of eclipse glasses.
